About the Mamaponcho

close during the colder months of the year. It consists of a warm pouch for the baby with tow openings, one for the
baby's head and one for the mother’s. |

The Mamaponcho keeps you and your baby warm and dry during those cold, wet autumn and spring months as well as in the icy cold winter months. You can carry your baby comfortably both on your front and your back whilst wearing the poncho. When carrying your baby on your back you can put the Mamaponcho on with no help. The Mamaponcho is produced both in Switzerland and Germany |

The Origins of the Mamaponcho
Since my son’s birth I have always carried him in a sling. As the days got shorter and much colder I found I had trouble finding a way to keep us both warm as I carried him and not end up looking like a big ball of clothing! So I developed, knitted and sewed the first Mamaponcho for my son and I. Soon afterwards I bought a knitting machine and a better-quality sewing machine. I began to produce the ponchos by hand for other mothers to also enjoy. Today most of the Ponchos are produced by a knitting company in Germany. Since I love the inspiring and meditative qualities of the monotonous work with my knitting machine I still produce some ponchos by hand today including some custom made to order. |
